Ryan Montgomery Chooses Georgia Football
The Big Decision: Findlay High School Quarterback
Findlay High School’s star quarterback, Ryan Montgomery, has officially committed to playing football at the University of Georgia. This significant move comes after deliberating between South Carolina and Florida, making Georgia football his top choice.
A Unique Commitment Ceremony
Surrounded by family, friends, and an adorable bulldog named Winnie, Ryan Montgomery announced his commitment at the gymnasium of Findlay High School. Unlike the traditional hat selection, Montgomery’s announcement was far from ordinary.
“I didn’t want to really do the hats; that’s kind of what everybody does. I wanted to do something a little different and have a little fun with this announcement,” said Montgomery. With the help of a local who owned a bulldog, Ryan’s announcement stood out as a memorable moment.
Relief and Excitement
The four-star recruit expressed his relief and excitement to have the decision behind him. “It’s been a very long process. Being able to have it all wrapped up now and be committed to a school like Georgia, a place where I want to be, it’s a huge relief,” Montgomery shared.
A Family Affair
Ryan’s brother, Luke Montgomery, also a high-profile recruit, is currently an offensive lineman for Ohio State University. Ryan acknowledged the significant role his brother played in his recruitment journey.
“He’s been through the process, he knows what the process is like. Having him as my older brother but also just someone that can be there for me and just be a mentor throughout my recruiting process was definitely big time,” Ryan said.
Outstanding High School Career
Ryan Montgomery’s high school career is nothing short of impressive. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound standout was named a finalist for Ohio Mr. Football last season. He finished his last season with remarkable stats:
Season | Passing Yards | Touchdowns | Interceptions |
---|---|---|---|
Last Season | 3,018 | 35 | 5 |
Breaking Records
Among his noteworthy achievements, Ryan Montgomery broke the single-game yardage school record previously held by Ben Roethlisberger, passing for 491 yards with six touchdowns in a victory over Southview.
Looking Forward to Georgia Football
With his significant achievements and commitment to Georgia football, Montgomery is eager to compete at the highest levels of college football. “Just having the opportunity to compete against the country’s best each and every day, that was definitely a big part of my decision.
